ARC3 Ames Clapper Retainer Clip Set of 3 for Ames 2000, 3000 & 4000 assemblies sizes 4″, 6″ & 8-10″.  An alternative to Ames Part Numbers 7013911 (for 4″ assemblies), 7013912 (for 6″ assemblies) & 7013913 (for 8 to 10″ assemblies).

For use in removing the second check on the backflow prevention assemblies for the the models and sizes above.

The clips hold the clapper (knuckle joint) assembly together after it has been loosened from the backflow prevention assembly.  This allows you to remove it in its compact configuration through the assembly opening and is needed to remove the second check valve.  

To use:  Push the ARC (small, medium or large depending on the size of the assembly type above) into the 2nd check clapper.  Once it’s completely inserted, loosen and remove the exterior mounting bolts of the 2nd clapper in the assembly.  The clip will keep the clapper assembly from unfolding after loosened.  Remove the entire clapper assembly WITH the clip inserted from the assembly.  To safely remove the clip, secure the clapper assembly to the outside of the body with the mounting bolts, then push on the clapper while removing the retaining clips.  Now you can more easily service the clapper outside of the assembly.
